  2. Domingo Ereño was born in 1810, prior to the implementation of the Clavería Decree, and therefore did not originally bear the surname Ereño. His baptismal record identifies him as Domingo Luis, the son of Don Juan Ubaldo and Doña Maria Josefa. This name remained consistent in the Padrón de Almas records until 1814, when it was changed to Juan Domingo. He retained this name throughout his adulthood until the Clavería Decree was enacted in 1849 (and implemented in 1850). Following the reform, he was assigned the surname Ereño and thereafter became known as Domingo Ereño. By 1860, he was serving as gobernadorcillo of Gubat under this name, which he retained for the rest of his life and passed on to subsequent generations.

  4. Vidal Ereño served as gobernadorcillo of Gubat in 1858.

Prior to this ordinance, the assignment of surnames in the Philippines lacked the structured system observed in Western societies, where children typically inherited the family name of their parents. Consequently, it was commonplace for children to bear surnames that differed from those of their parents.
